We Love Visitors!

Indian Time is lucky to receive many visitors every week. Whether it's a parent bringing in a new baby for a photograph or an elder who wants us to look at photos with him, our doors are always open and we love our visitors. We love them so much we want to share them with you. "We Love Visitors" series is simply a way to share members of the community with you. So, don't be scared to come and visit us (we'll only photograph those willing) but if you have something special you want to show us, tell us, or share with our readers, stop in anytime.

Our offices are located in the village of St. Regis, on Hilltop Drive, in the same building as CKON 97.3 studios.

We hope to see you soon!

Joyce King - Akwesasne Justice Department Director, far right, and Gilbert Terrance - Akwesasne Mohawk Court Administrator, far left, brought some visitors to Indian Time last Tuesday; a delegation from the Ta'an Kwach'an Council. They are (not in order): Deputy Chief Michelle Telep, Council member Glenda Jones, Elders Council member Marion Irvine, Youth Council member Jurnee Jim, Justice Caucus member Betsy Jackson, Justice Caucus member Joe Jack, Justice Caucus member Will Jones, Justice Caucus member Barbara Hare, Implementation Official Barb Joe and Justice Coordinator Shawna Smith.

They were visiting Akwesasne last week to meet with the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne to learn about establishing a Justice System for their First Nation located in the Yukon Territory. The Ta'an Kwach'an Council involves a Chief, Deputy Chief, along with Elder Council, Council and Youth Council representatives from their Traditional Families. The delegation of 10 Ta'an Kwach'an included representation from these areas, along with their Justice Council and technical staff, and they met with Akwesasne Justice Department staff, an Akwesasne Mohawk Court Justice and Justice Portfolio to learn about the Akwesasne Mohawk Court, the legislative development initiatives and law making process, and incorporating traditional knowledge into laws. From here, the delegation continued on to visit the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake before heading home.
