Science Camp at AMS

Instructor MJ Thomas works with some students in making Robot hands. A piece of cardboard strung together and the students pulled the strings attached and moved the fingers. The students were enthusiastic about this project and found it fun.

Local kids got a chance to learn some fun hands on science projects this summer.

Balloon CDs was another project of Science Quest students.

The University of Ottawa and Kingston, Ontario's Queens University Engineering programs held the annual "Science Quest" event at the Cornwall Island school.

The aim is to get students interested in science and to have fun while doing it.

Last week the Kindergarten to grade three students held their session while the older grades held their camp earlier this summer.

Overall the camp covers chemistry, engineering, cartography and map reading. After lunch, they go outside to stretch their legs and play some games.

Every summer the two schools travel to communities like Brockville, Perth, Trenton and Tyendinaga to hold four day programs and they have been doing this for 26 years.
