Indian Time - A Voice from the Eastern Door

On July 17, 2015 a memorial golf tournament was held for the late Danny “Boone” Bero. We would like to commend the Boone Classic Golf Committee consisting of Lynne Thompson, Dwight and Becky Bero, Guzzy Lazore and Jeannine Lazore for all their hard work in planning this tournament. Shortly after his death, a plan was put into place to have a golf tournament. For those of you who knew Boone, you knew he loved the game of golf. We don’t know if he loved the game more or going to find golf balls that were lost by his golfing partners.

We would like to take this time to send out a special thank you to the corporate sponsors, Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Tarbell Management Group and Native Trading. We would like to thank all the local businesses who either gave gift cards or monetary donations and also to those who purchased memorial hole sponsors or Mohawk auction gifts. We would like to thank our families, friends, coworkers who came out to golf, we couldn’t have asked for a better day. To all the volunteers who helped make this tournament run smoothly, thank you.

Danny “Boone” would have been truly honored that this tournament was named after him. All money from this tournament went to benefit the Akwesasne Cancer Support Group.
