Senior "B" Lacrosse Opens Big for 2015 Season

 


The Snake Island Muskies are off to another season, opening their quest for a 2015 championship with a win against Tyendinaga.

On May 2, the Muskies met the Tyendinaga Wolfpack at Desoronto Recreation Centre and won 20-5. For Snake Island, Andrew Lazore and Lee Thomas led the offensive charged with five goals and two assists each. Joe Hall scored a hat trick and assisted four times. Shane Francis had three goals and three assists. Raweras Mitchell had two goals and four assists. Russ Cree helped set up six plays that resulted in goals scored. Paul Ward scored twice. Trent Jacobs tallied a pair of assists. Trey Adams backstopped for the win, turning aside five shots.

Boba Maracle led the Wolfpack offense with three goals. Cullen Brinklow and Cole Maracle netted singletons. Greg Reilly, Victor Greene and Jess Brant Maracle logged solo assists. Andrew Maracle earned the loss, denying 20 scoring attempts.

The tables turned for the Muskies two days later. Facing the Kahnawake Mohawks at Kahnawake Sports Complex, they lost 19-9.

Kahnawake led 8-4 after the opening stanza, a deficit from which Snake Island would not recover. The Mohawks held back a second period Muskie rally, outscoring them 4-3, before dominating the third period 7-2. Joe Hall led the offensive side with a goal and five assists. He also logged 20 of the team’s 40 penalty minutes. Shane Francis had a goal and four assists, while Russ Cree netted a hat trick. Lee Thomas scored twice and assisted twice. Clayton Barnes scored a pair of goals. Trey Adams and Kariwate Michell had two assists apiece. Andrew Lazore pitched in one assist.

Karah Two-Axe sparked the Mohawk offense with six goals and two assists. Kyle Alfred pitched in four goals and five helpers. Ty Thompson scored twice and assisted five times. Ben Green logged a pair of goals and two assists. Mark Kriby scored once and had four assists. Sose Regis fashioned four assists. Kaniat Deer and Louis Alfred each finished with a goal and an assist. Ian Crawford scored two goals. Dexter Tanner and Alexandre Fortier, who made 51 saves in net and logged the win, each logged two helpers.
