Letter to the Editor

Shek:on

My name is Marie Morrell. I am the founder and volunteer Executive Director of Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged, an organization helping people with special needs who are artistically inclined.

Through our annual Multicultural Festival, in partnership with the Native North American Travelling College and participating embassies, we introduce attendees about our ancestral origins.

We have also been promoting, since 2007, FREE OF CHARGE, artists, artisans, photographers, performers and writers of the following regions: the Akwesasne Territory, Cornwall and SD&G. If you go to http://www.paradeofnations.com, look on the left hand side, there is a topic called Art Sponsors.

I am currently updating it (filling out missing info gathered over the years through local newspapers, such as Indian Time.) Many of you might already be on the list, (200+ just from Akwesasne), thanks to Lindsay Tarbell and the Akwesasne Cultural Museum who provided some information. We are extending this list into new categories, e.g. artisans eventually will have basket makers, carvers, jewelry, cornhusk dolls, quilts, etc.

If you are not there or would like to add a photo to an existing entry that does not have one, please send your information to info@paradeofnations.com, call 613-936-6873 or mail it to 1621 Joyce Street Cornwall ON K6J 1Y8.
