On Monday, November 10, 2014, the St. Regis Recreation Dance Troupe presented Donna Benedict with a special performance; "Dancing for Donna", as their part in helping Donna Benedict realize her dream in visiting Hawaii. Benedict, who is heroically battling cancer, wants to visit Hawaii with her family and the community of Akwesasne has once again opened its strong arms to rally around her. While everyone has a bucket list of things to do, the top of Benedict's list is to visit Hawaii and the Akwesasne community has come together in a big way to make sure she and her family gets to check this off in a big way.

The St. Regis Recreation Dance Troupe, founded by Laura Thompson, hold free classes every Monday night. This night was a special night just for Donna Benedict

The St. Regis Recreation Dance Troupe was created by Laura Thompson and they hold classes for anyone wanting to dance and all classes are free. The dance classes are held each Monday night and three of Donna Benedict's grandchildren are part of the Dance Troupe, and also participated in this special performance. All proceeds raised went directly to Donna Benedict's traveling fund to Hawaii.

Benedict thoroughly enjoyed the performance and remarked, "She's got boobies and hair", when she was given a cup from Shonwanonkon Thompson.

Donna Benedict was all smiles throughout the performance, "It was so good, I love watching them dance. Niawen from the bottom of my heart, for all the love and support, the community is so big for caring and making wishes come true. All those dancers were so cute."

Laura Thompson, founder of the St. Regis Rec Dance Club, said, "It was a fabulous turn out, and thanks to the Village Currency for counting the change at no charge. It was just so nice to see all the smiling faces." She added, "It's never to young to teach someone to fundraise and learn about good deeds."
