Description of Position: Performing forestry measurements, tree identification, forest management skills, an understanding and practical application of forest pest management identification, use of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies for data acquisition, analysis and mapping.
Qualifications: Minimum, A.A.S. degree in forestry or have equivalent training or experience. Technicians must be able to identify tree species from twig and bark samples, must be able to read a map and use a hand compass. Person must be self-motivated and able to work under varied weather and environmental conditions. Experience in surveying, aerial photogrammetry or type mapping is preferred, but not required. ELIGIBILITY LIST: A list of qualified candidates is created from interviews that may be used to appoint individuals to similar positions within the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe for a period of six months.
