The family and friends of both Laurie Conners and Shepard LaPage would like to thank everyone who took time to "Get on the List" at the 2014 Wellness Day. In total we had 152 people register to become bone marrow donors, which was a tremendous turnout! Thank you so much to everyone who participated and who shared words of encouragement and well wishes for both Shepard and Laurie.

There will be a fundraising 5K walk/run and another bone marrow donor registration drive on Saturday, August 9 at Whelan Park in Massena for those who may have missed this one. Again, thank you so much for registering and for your love and support!

About the need for bone marrow donors, all donors and especially Native donors.

1. American Indian and Alaska Native patients have a harder time finding a donor than other diverse patients.

2. Patients are most likely to match someone who shares their ancestry, and American Indians and Alaska Natives combined comprise only 1 percent of the registry.

3. American Indian and Alaska Native marrow donors are urgently needed to save patients everywhere.
