On behalf of the family of Kanawiio, son of Angie Mitchell-Green and Steve Green, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the community of Akwesasne for assisting us during this stressful time.

Kanawiio's open-heart surgery on November 28 was successful. He was a patient at CHEO for four days and was released to stay close to the hospital for another week and a half. He and his mom were able to stay in Ottawa at Rotel, across from CHEO where he was monitored and finally released to go home on Thursday December 14.

Because of the severity of open-heart surgery, Kanawiio has to stay away from school for two months and is recovering at home under his mother's care and watchful eye.

There has been such overwhelming support to assist this young family.

Thank you Eddie for the tobacco burning before the operation. For all the good wishes and prayers from family and friends. Truly inspirational to know how much every cares.

Niawen to Kanawiio's school for hosting a luncheon fundraiser. The money from Tsi Snaihne School was used to purchase necessities and items to keep Kanawiio still, such as games, for their stay away from home for two weeks.

The proceeds from the Silent Auction on December 5 will be used when the bills start coming in during the two months recovery time. The donations, the bidding and the ability to host such an event are very much appreciated.

The Akwesasne Womens' Singing Society, with the young Mens' Singing Society who hosted a social and did a cake walk. There were many cake donations from family and friends. The community came out during the blizzard and supported this fundraiser by purchasing tickets for the cake walk and by participating in the social: you all lifted our spirits. The family donated almost half of the funds raised at the Social to another family going through the same crisis.

All this is being acknowledged. We are truly grateful for your support.

Thank you everyone for the donations, the people who bidded, those who won and those who outright donated to the family.
