Santa Smash Volleyball Tourney

On Saturday, December 15, a benefit volleyball tournament was held to help the U15 Boys lacrosse team. The tournament was organized by Hannah Leaf and Cheyenne Lazore. Leaf said, “We try to give back, that’s what our team does, we try to give back as much as possible to the younger teams, so we figured this would be a perfect opportunity to help a younger team out while we can.” Lazore pointed out “this is our first time doing volleyball, because we are lacrosse players.” Leaf added that they usually focus on lacrosse-oriented fundraisers, but she noted that everyone likes volleyball.

The tournament was a round robin format, with six teams playing a total of 5 games, and then a first versus fourth, and a second versus third. The winners of those two games would square off in the championship game.

Prizes included a beautifully ornate handmade trophy.

The results:

The championship game was between The Ballbreakers and The ACES. According to Benjamin Herne, The Ballbreakers won game one 28-26, the ACES won game two 25-23 and the Ballbreakers won the championship with the third game 25-21.

The Ballbreakers are: Diane Lazore, Calandra Curleyhead, Karahwise Richmond, Nihasennaa Peters, Detwin Curleyhead, and Joni Garrow.

The ACES are: Benny Herne, Aronhaies Herne, Brittany Skidders, Ryan King, Charlene (Brown) Lazore and Arlene Thomas.
