Huskies Overpower the Shamrocks

The Salmon River boy’s basketball squad had its work cut out for them as they faced the reigning Section 10 Champions and this year’s powerhouse, the Malone Huskies. They fell to the Huskies by a score of 77-23. The Huskies jumped out to a fast start with a 22-6 first period lead. The Shamrocks gave a great effort, but Malone proved to be too much and went into the locker room at halftime with a 35-17 lead.

Malone continued to dominate the second half by outscoring the Shamrocks 42-6. The Shamrocks never gave up and played hard from beginning to end. Kiio Jacobs led the Shamrocks with 12 points followed by Josh Hynes with seven points. Justin Bigness and Dawson David chipped in two points each to round out the scoring.

Kody Mulverhill had the game high with 16 points while Mitch Gallagher and Jon Dunlavey added 12 points apiece for Malone (5-0).

St. Regis Falls 83 Salmon River 23

St. Regis Falls took a 23-11 halftime lead and turned it into an 83-23 victory over the Shamrocks Last Friday night. St. Regis Falls had a balanced attack having five players finish with double-digit points. The Saints were led by Brandon Votra with 20 points.

Coach Martin’s Shamrocks were led by team leading scorer Josh Hynes with 14 points, which included a three-pointer and a free throw. Dylan Whitehead generated six points and Kiio Jacobs added two points.
