SRMS Holds Band/Chorus Christmas Concert

The band prepares to perform their Christmas concert.

On Thursday, December 17, the band and chorus programs at the St. Regis Mohawk School held their annual Christmas Concert. The band, led by Mr. Justin Hahn, played their portion of the show first, beginning with the band scale warm up, followed by Good King Wenceslas, Jingle Bells, and Up On the Housetop. Mr. Hahn let us know that this was traditionally a short program and that the kids had less time to prepare their music, promising a longer show in the spring.

Autumn Benedict (center) was Dominick the Donkey.

Following the band, the chorus was up next. The chorus, led by Mr. Warren Potter, consisted of third, fourth, and fifth graders-some of whom were just on stage from the band performance. The songs the chorus performed in order were: A Candle for Peace, Super Santa, Fantasy of Jingle Bells, and finally ending the show with Dominick the Donkey. Autumn Benedict played Dominick-or as the kids reminded everyone, Dominique-Jumping and heehawing throughout.

It was a lovely show, and I couldn’t see any lack of preparedness, the kids did wonderfully.
