Seniors Club Hosts Annual Fall Craft Show

The St. Regis Mohawk Senior Citizens Club Annual Food and Craft Show was held on Saturday, October 4, at the Seniors Center. The Center was jam-packed with craft tables, food and bake sales like a variety of soups, including corn soup, fried bread, all sorts of pies, and a silent auction. There was also a quilt and painting raffle to benefit the Seniors Club.

The club has been hosting the event for around 20 years. Money raised from the craft show goes to many things. Building maintenance and the various trips the club goes on are just some things. Senior's Club President Lois Thomas talked about some of the things the club has going on including a trip to see a Patsy Cline tribute in Watertown and Ogdensburg Command Performance shows in Massena. After Christmas there has been a request to have a rug making class, and they are holding a quilt challenge already for next years quilt raffle. Lois said some of this year's funds will go toward the building fund, because they will soon need new chairs at the Senior Center.

Like past years, the club had several tables set up. A couple of tables were filled with crafts that club members made like hats, scarfs, quilts, potholders and much more. Betty Kelly said, "We've been busy. We get together and gossip, we know everything, and it's really fun." There was also a bake sale put on by the Seniors Club, which had all kinds of goodies including banana bread and bread pudding.
