Akwesasne Child and Family Services recently got a huge donation from the Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged, an organization out of Cornwall run by Marie Morrell that seeks to promote awareness, acceptance and inclusion of developmentally challenged individuals and those with special needs living in Akwesasne, Cornwall and SD&G. The Parade of Nations has worked within the community before, and they do a ton of fundraising, recently holding a Multicultural Bazaar.

The educational toys that ACFS were able to buy thanks to the generosity of the Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged.

Marie Morrell contacted ACFS because she knew they had contact with the people she wanted to help. Julie Jacobs of ACFS said Marie chose a program in Akwesasne because a lot of the money raised came from the community, and Morrell wanted to put it back into the community. About $2,000 worth of toys were bought, many were chosen for specific children to help with a particular challenge they face, from motor skills to brain games. About ACFS Maris said, "Your team has done an excellent job and we are extremely grateful."

You can find the Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged online at http://www.paradeofnations.com, where you can even make an electronic donation. Thank you to this great organization for its generosity.
