Robert Michael Point

 

Robert Michael Point passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in Cornwall, Ontario.

He was born June 19, 1953 at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Cornwall and is the son of Phyllis (Brown) Point and the late Noah Point of Kawehno:ke. He is survived by his children, Noah David Point of Massena, New York; Richard Timothy John Point of Kawehno:ke, Ontario; Amanda Anne Eileen Prairie-Point of Gatineau, Quebec; Taheelah Marie Charlotte Prairie-Point, Christopher James Point, and chosen son Shawn Donald Joseph Nesbitt, all of Cornwall, Ontario.

Robert, known by his family as “Michael”, was pre-deceased by his father and three brothers, Edward John, Hugh James and Kirk William Point. Also survived by one brother Dean Forest Joseph and Carla Point of Kawehno:ke; two sisters, Melanie Jayne and Joel Folts of Syracuse, New York; and Karla Marie and James Ransom of Hogansburg; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Out of high school Michael joined the local 440 iron workers union. Michael served almost ten years on the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service in the late 1970’s. He became a certified welder with Kirkey Racing Fabrication. Michael worked for twenty years at Hershey Chocolate Manufacturing Plant in Smiths Falls, Ontario. Upon his return to Akwesasne he became employed by Oka Erectors and then for Hugh J. Point Industrial Installation. Recently he had been working as a landscaper for Plantscape in Cornwall, Ontario.

There will be no calling hours or services as per Michael’s wishes, cremation to follow.
