Tom Stacey

Tom started cleaning up the roads after Billy Bottles passed away. He noticed that the clean-up crew that does the roads only came out about once a year. He said the roads got so bad he just couldn’t stand it anymore.

Tom cleans Rt. 37 from the around the Casino to Jreck Subs. Sometimes he makes it to the island and he also goes some way down Cook Rd. and down Raquette. But he needs people to help and go further down those roads. He mentioned that the ditches in St. Regis are pretty bad too. He would like to see people like the sports teams come out and help him. He said “they get money for sports, they should come out and help.”

Tom explained that people often say ‘what are you going to do if there is no more garbage?’ Tom says, “that would be better!” But there is always garbage, and lots of it, and Tom says it seems nobody else will do it, not everyday like it needs to be done.

Tom has been cleaning the roads for 10 years and hopes to continue another 5 years. His message to all is:

Keep the community clean as much as you can. Don’t throw your garbage on the road.

We have to set an example. We have to show the outsiders that we care about Mother Earth and we can have a beautiful community.

You could write to Tom or send him Christmas cards at this address:
